Nintendo has confirmed in an official press release that the Nintendo Switch topped the video game charts for the third month in a row, as measured by US video game sales tracker NPD Group. This is also the fifth time in seven months after its launch that it was on top.

Based on the September data, the Nintendo Switch has sold two million units in the United States. Combined with the Nintendo 3DS systems and the Super NES Classic Edition, Nintendo systems make up two-thirds of the total hardware sales for the month. Nintendo Switch games also make up several spots on the best-selling games list, including Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle from Ubisoft at #7, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at #10 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at #11. Metroid: Samus Returns for the 3DS debuted at #8.

That’s very good news for the Switch as the console is set to go into its first holiday shopping season of sales.

Upcoming games for the system include Fire Emblem Warriors (October 20), Super Mario Odyssey (October 27), DOOM (November 10), The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (November 17) and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (December 1). 3DS games coming soon include, again, Fire Emblem Warriors (October 20), Mario Party: The Top 100 (November 10) and Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon (November 17).
