No Man's Sky

It may be one of the most hated games of the year, but No Man’s Sky is also among the best-sellers. Valve has posted the top 100 best-selling games on Steam in 2016 as measured by gross revenue and the controversial Hello Games space exploration game was ranked among the “Platinum” category, which showed the twelve best sellers in random order. The other platinum games were Dota 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Civilization VI, Dark Souls 3, Fallout 4, Grand Theft Auto 5, Rocket League, Tom Clancy’s The Division, Total War: Warhammer, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and XCOM 2.

No Man’s Sky was one of the most hotly-anticipated and talked about games leading up to its release in August, but fans were quickly turned off when it was revealed that several features that they believed the publisher promised were not delivered on. It has mostly negative reviews among critics and fans.

Among the “Gold” games that form the second tier of best sellers were Arma 3, Stellaris, Doom, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Stardew Valley, Dead by Daylight, King of the Hill, Rainbow Six: Siege, Ark: Survival Evolved, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Warframe and Team Fortress 2. You can see the full list here. Many of the top sellers are on sale right now, if you’re interested.
