The Seoul Dynasty are beefing up their roster as they look to the 2019 season, signing main tank Baek “Fissure” Chan-hyung. The Dynasty announced the news in a press release on Monday.

“We’re thrilled to add a player of Fissure’s caliber,” said Arnold Hur, Gen.G esports Chief Growth Officer. “He’s a difference-maker who will step right in and contribute immediately.”

Fissure was a mainstay among the top tanks of the Overwatch League in its first season. Initially playing on the London Spitfire, he was traded to the Los Angeles Gladiators after the first stage and proceeded to become a crucial part of the Gladiators’ success. Fissure helped boost the team into a playoff spot, although he did not play in the playoffs against the Spitfire. Reports claimed that he was unhappy with what he believed was a lack of appropriate effort from his teammates in preparing for the playoffs. Fissure denied that in a public statement, saying that he felt a unified language was superior for a team, and that his replacement main tank, iRemiix, fit the meta of the playoffs.

Fissure is a huge signing for the Dynasty as they seek to recover from a disappointing season in which they failed to make the playoffs despite having one of the most-hyped rosters leading into the season. He is a member of the Pacific Division All-Star team and finished in second place for MVP voting for the season.

“I’ve dreamt of playing for Seoul Dynasty for a long time. I’m very excited to wear the Seoul Dynasty uniform and I will try to bring my A game for the fans,” said Baek ‘Fissure’ Chan-hyung regarding his new team. “Also, I’d like to express my gratitude to the players and management team of the LA Gladiators, who have supported my decision. I won’t forget the memorable moments I had last season as part of the LA Gladiators.”
