Overwatch League to Air on Disney XD, ABC, ESPN App For Season Two

The Overwatch League is returning to television for its second season. The League announced its broadcast schedule for the upcoming season on Thursday, which kicks off on February 14th with the first three matches of the season.

All matchesz will be available on the ESPN App, with three matches a week to be broadcast on Disney XD. Those matches will be the final match each Thursday at 11:30 PM ET along with the first two matches on Sundays at 3 PM and 4:30 PM. This means that in week one, fans hoping to see the Shanghai Dragons get their elusive first win after an 0 – 40 season one will get two chances, as they play the expansion Hangzhou Spark on Thursday night and then the other hyped expansion team in the Vancouver Titans on Thursday at 4:30. The Sunday 3:00 PM match will pitt the Spark against the Los Angeles Valiant.

In addition, the semifinals and finals of the first two stages will air on broadcast television itself in ABC, as well as the All-Star game. The stage three finals will air on ESPN2 and the Homestand Weekends, season playoffs and grand finals will air on TV with a schedule to be announced at a later date.

The OWL made its TV debut last season for the playoffs, scoring good numbers for Disney XD. This is a big step for the league Blizzard seeks to further push their esports venture into the mainstream. The OWL is also set to air on TV in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
