[PODCAST] 5th Edition D&D Actual Play – Eberron: Heirs of Destiny 11

Hello people; welcome back to Eberron: Heirs of Destiny! I’m your DM (and 411 editor), Jeremy Thomas.

Catching everyone up, our party of young heroes — or would-be heroes, as the case may be — had been embroiled in an investigation regarding an assassination contract taken out against a patron of theirs in Lady Elaydren d’Vown of House Cannith. Looking into the situation put the group at odds with an organization apparently known as the Order of the Emerald Claw, a militant branch of Karnnathi nationalists now branded terrorists who were somehow connected to the religious cult known as the Blood of Vol. After learning this information from a lich named Gath who found his home in Sharn’s City of the Dead, the group investigated a district in Middle Sharn known as the Sovereign Towers where many of the religious temples for the middle class stood.

Arriving amongs the Sovereign Towers, the party found an entrance into a hidden temple that apparnetly lay underneath and in-between the temples to the defenders against supernatural evil known as the Church of the Silver Flame and the Pavilion of the Host, which is dedicated to the Sovereign Host. Once down in the underground temple, the party fell upon a group of cultists and while engaging them were attacked from behind as well. After dealing with them, some of the members investigated the room that the surprise attackers came from, where Kira found some information about Aerenal, the island of the elves who worship their undying ancestors, and Seth found papers conclusively tying the leader of the Emerald Claw enclave, a man named Garrow, to the assassination. Edwin found a mysterious book that contained a disturbing amount of information about each of the party members, though he has kept that to himself for now.

The party then found, thanks to a mind-reading potion created by our artificer Alex, the location of Garrow. They entered into a secret part of the complex and spoke briefly with Garrow, who they knew to be a changeling. He taunted them and suggested that perhaps Elaydren’s death would be in their best interests, though he didn’t say why. A combat began, during which they were engaged by zombified warforged and two wights who had suddenly appeared, while Garrow himself vanished. The undead dispatched, some of the party quickly noticed the smell of smoke and returned to the main area where they found the records room aflame. They left the temple and returned to Elaydren’s, delivering the information, and pondered the implications of what an undead warforged could mean.

And that is where we left off.
