[PODCAST] Final Show Films Podcasts: Catch-Up Week

February 14, 2017 | Posted by John Bates

Hey folks! Sorry I haven’t been visible for the past week; let me tell you what’s been going on!

Last week was my birthday! And a lot of other things happened too. We didn’t get the Natch 20 Review recorded last week because part of our normal recording crew was sick – a trend that you will see continuing later in this story.

That being said – Wednesday we had Episode 02 of our Eberron campaign go up!

I didn’t get an article put up about that though because at the time, and throughout the rest of the week, my ADHD was kicking me in the butt. For those of you who don’t follow me on Twitter [And why don’t you – @johnabates – I’m hilarious] I have ADHD – Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It’s a chemical / neurological [Scientists aren’t 100% sure yet] disorder of the brain similar to ADD but amped up by about 100%. In addition to having difficulties focusing on such every day activities as writing this an article, I also get endless amounts of energy that get directed to nowhere in particular. It’s sort of like getting your dog super excited and then locking them in an empty room and watching them bound off the walls aimlessly.

So, for the life of me even though I had all the energy in the world to do ANYTHING last week, I could focus on NOTHING. No games caught my attention, no work kept me busy, no videos kept me watching – and, in conclusion – no articles did I write.

Thursday we sent up the first in a series of connected One Shots called the Deadlands Hunter Society.

Again, no article got up for this because of the ADHD.

DHS is a setting I created for a modern 5th Edition D&D game and the Sunday crew got to run through it first – William wasn’t around to GM Warcraft or Dark Heresy (The game I wanted to play for my birthday), so we did that first! Look forward to more of these; We’ve got at least two more DHS one shots coming in the near future, one of which is going to be part of a 24 hour charity stream.

Then Friday we got up to some more Critical Thinking

My ADHD had calmed down by Friday and I was going to write a group article for these three things, and be back on schedule for everything by Monday, but then I had a pepperoni pizza and my body decided that it never wanted pepperoni ever again. Food poisoning is fun, isn’t it? Well, fun in the same way self flagellation is. My body rejected all pepperoni products that I had consumed in the past 15 years, and the aftershocks had me mostly unable to do much for the rest of the weekend and Monday.

Though, even though I was sick and medicated, we did manage to get Walking Shadow and Gran Terra 48 up on Monday.

Now, to be fair, that’s not a full episode of Gran Terra there. No, the recording bot we use in Discord to record Gran Terra decided it wanted to stop doing it’s job an hour in and so I had to do a short recap. It’ll definitely take you less time than normal to listen to. We seem to have fixed it though, so that’s good.

And finally, we get to today; The Natch 20 Review.

We finally did it. We got to 4th Edition Dungeons & Dragons.

And man was everything we heard about it absolutely correct.

I know there are people that enjoy that edition of the game – and I’m so sorry that you do. I tried my best to like it, but we gave up on the system after ONE STANDARD ENEMY ENCOUNTER.

ONE. STANDARD. ENCOUNTER.

I think that’s all that needs to be said.

I’ll be back to doing my normal article thing tomorrow – sorry for the delay!
