The secret is out. The Power Rangers are returning to video game consoles this spring. Hasbro and Lionsgate this week officially unveiled the new fighting game, Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid, which will launch later this April as a multi-platform release. The game is now up for pre-order at BattlefortheGrid.com. Hasbro and Lionsgate confirmed the news after the trailer leaked online earlier this week.

Battle for the Grid is being developed by nWay, the developer and publisher for Power Rangers: Legacy Wars. Now, gamers will have a chance to play a high-fidelity Power Rangers game for consoles. It’s being developed for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch for an April launch. A Windows PC version is in the works for a release later in 2019.

Power Rangers; Battle for the Grid will be priced at $19.99 as a digital download release. Players who pre-order the game will receive a Green Ranger V2 character skin and a digital art book. A special Digital Collector’s Edition was also announced that’s priced at $39.99. it will include full game download, a Season One Pass (which will include three new characters, their Arcade story, and a new warrior skin), and exclusive Lord Drakkon Evo II and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Pink Ranger character skins.

Speaking on the news in a press release, Taehoon Kim, co-founder and CEO of nWay stated: “Power Rangers fans have been asking for a high fidelity fighting game on console and PC that match up iconic Rangers and villains across the expansive Power Rangers multiverse for quite some time now. We wanted to deliver this to the fans and make sure it has cross-play and cross-progression capabilities as we believe playing with friends across multiple platforms at the same time is where the future of gaming is headed.”

Per Lionsgate, the game will have an easy to learn but hard to master combat system with “simplified controls.” Players can compete online or locally against friends. It also appears that new game modes and content will be added to the title throughout the year.

More details for Battle for the Grid will be released later on. You can check out the official reveal trailer below. As previously reported, Hasbro purchased the Power Rangers property from Saban Entertainment in May 2018.
