Resident Evil 3: Nemesis

During this week’s PlayStation State of Play broadcast, Capcom officially announced the highly anticipated remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Following up on the successful remake of Resident Evil 2, the new game uses the proprietary RE to completely reimagine the Raccoon City story arc.

Resident Evil 3 stars Jill Valentine as she tries to escape the crumbling Racoon City while also beeing pursued by the bioweapon called the Nemesis. The game experience will also include the asymmetrical multiplayer experience, Resident Evil Resistance, previously known under the working title of Project Resistance.

Resident Evil 3 will hit the shelves on April 3, 2020 for the Xbox One, Xbox One X, Windows PC via Steam, and PlayStation 4. Here’s an official synopsis:

Resident Evil 3 is set amidst the nightmarish outbreak of the T-virus, a biological weapon developed by the pharmaceutical company Umbrella Corporation. The game marks the debut of Nemesis – a towering humanoid bioweapon designed for both brutality and high-functioning intelligence – whose dogged hunt of S.T.A.R.S. member Jill Valentine made him an icon of the Resident Evil™ series. Armed with an arsenal of high-powered weaponry and wrapped in a black suit to hide his mutilated features, Nemesis will maim, pulverize or destroy any obstacle on the path to his target.

Jill’s harrowing escape takes place in the panic-stricken hours leading up to and following the events of the acclaimed best-selling Resident Evil 2. Intense combat and puzzle solving combine to deliver the heart-pounding final chapter of Raccoon City’s collapse. The horrific settings from the original game and new content come to life as never before with RE Engine, previously utilized to create the acclaimed Resident Evil 7 biohazard, Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry 5 with high-definition graphics and modernized gameplay mechanics.

Resident Evil Resistance will be an asymmetrical 4 vs. 1 multiplayer game experience. Players will be able to assume the role of characters such as Annette Birkin in a series of deadly experiments. Players will be able to manipulate environment and use a deck of cards to place creatures, set traps and weaponized security cameras to ensnare Survivors. Additionally, the “Masterminds” will be able to control bioweapons such as G-Birkin and the Tyrant. The four Survivors then have to work together to try and escape the experiment before time runs out.

Additionally, the North American release will have the Resident Evil 3 Collector’s Edition. This will feature a physical copy of the game, a Jill Valentine figure, a printed artbook, a Raccoon City map wall poster, and a digital copy of the RE3 soundtrack. Gamers who pre-order this version will also receive the Classic Costume pack, which has the original design for Jill Valentine and hairstyle for Carlos Oliveira.
