Rockstar Games Reportedly in Early Development on Next Grand Theft Auto

The next Grand Theft Auto game is reportedly in the early stages of development from Rockstar Games. Kotaku published a report on Wednesday detailing the game studio’s future plans and said that the company is in the early stages of planning on the next entry.

According to the report, one plan that has been set up by Rockstar management to mitigate the amount of “crunch time” on the game is to do a “moderately-sized release” that is then expanded with regular updates over time. This would be somewhat similar to how the developer treated GTA Online.

The move is in order to resolve some issues that have come up in terms of Rockstar’s public image, which was dinged by reports of a “crunch culture” where the writing team was, by Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser’s words, working “100 hour weeks” in order to finish Red Dead Redemption 2.

Grand Theft Auto V was released in September of 2013 and became the fastest-selling entertainment product in history with $800 million earned in its first day and $1 billion in its first three days.
