SEGA Genesis Mini Set for September Launch, 30 Games Announced

A little over a year ago, SEGA previously announced a new SEGA Genesis retro mini-console to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Genesis’ release, since retro mini-video game consoles are all the rage now. SEGA has now announced the release date for the SEGA Genesis Mini and most of the pre-installed games it will be packed with.

The SEGA Genesis Mini will arrive on September 19. It will be packed with two classic wired 3-button control pads, along with a USB power adapter, a power cable, and an HDMI cable. The console is designed as a miniature Genesis replica and is pre-loaded with 40 games.

Thus far, 30 of the 40 games for the mini-console have been revealed. Notable among the list is Mega Man: The Wily Wars, which was never released on cartridge in North America. US gamers could only play The Wily Wars through the now-defunct SEGA Channel. Here’s the currently announced lineup:
