As previously reported, the future of Telltale’s The Walking Dead game has been put into question due to the company announcing what appears to be a massive shutdown. The shutdown included major layoffs and closing its major studio. As a result, the final season for the Telltale Walking Dead game was put into jeopardy. However, Skybound Games announced today a deal that will apparently see the company continue and finish The Final Season.

Skybound Games issued the announcement on Saturday, October 6 on Twitter. It reads, “We’re SO happy to announce that we’ve reached a deal with @telltalegames that will allow Skybound to continue #TheWalkingDead: The Final Season! Let’s wrap up Clem’s story right! More details to come soon.”

IGN reports that The Walking Dead original creator Robert Kirkman originally made the announcement during a panel at the New York Comic-Con yesterday. Kirkman stated, “We’ve successfully negotiated with Telltale Games for our company Skybound to come in and see Season 4 of the Telltale game to completion.”

Additionally, Skybound released a statement to IGN, which reads: “[Skybound has] taken ownership of Telltale’s The Walking Dead: The Final Season and will finish the season. Skybound will work with members of the original Telltale team to finish the story in a way the fans deserve. Skybound will continue to update fans on the status of the game on, Twitter, and Facebook.”

More details on the handling of The Final Season will be announced later on.
