It’s official: the PlayStation 5 will arrive during the holiday 2020 season. Sony announced on Tuesday that the next-generation system will be released in time for next year’s holidays.

The announcement is light on details about the system, only noting that haptic feedback will be used in the controllers to replace the gurrent generation’s “rumble” technology and that the trigger puttins will be adaptive so that developers “can program the resistance of the triggers so that you feel the tactile sensation of drawing a bow and arrow or accelerating an off-road vehicle through rocky terrain.”

We already know that the new system will have a solid state driuve and ray-tracing technology, as well as a 4K Blu-Ray player. More details will of course come in the next year as we get closer to the release date.
