The Guild

The Guild was one of the forerunners of successful webseries, and its cast is reuniting for a charity D&D stream tonight. Felicia Day’s memorable webseries about the members of an online World of Warcraft-like MMO guild will get back together for the charity Twitch stream tonight at 7 PM PT in support of No Child Hungry, a charity focused on feeding disadvantaged kids in the US.

The Guild was created and written by Day who also starred as Codex/Cyd, a socially-awkward concert violinist who is addicted to the MMO that she plays with guildmates: the technically-savvy but creepy stalkerish Zaboo (Sandeep Parikh), the stingy and game-obsessed Vork (Jeff Lewis), crass high school student/online troll Blades (Vincent Caso), neglectful stay-at-home mom Clara (Robin Thorsen), and their hostile and secretive ranger Tinkerbella (Amy Okuda). While trying to deal with each other’s social quirks, the group eventually meets up in real life and makes their way through misadventures that reveal more about who they are as people.

The series was launched back in 2007, inspired by Day’s real life experiences as a gamer, and was partially funded by fans donating, quickly growing into one a successful webseries. It was also the precursor to Day’s Geek & Sundry YouTube channel, which itself helped launch the incredibly successful D&D livestream actual play series Critical Role.

You can watch the stream, which will see actress and DM extraordinaire Amy Vorpahl run an adventure for the group, on Day’s Twitch stream here.
