The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild DLC and Expansion Pass Details Revealed

This week, Nintendo officially announced the DLC details for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. There will be DLC pack releases for the game’s Expansion Pass for the game on Nintendo Switch and Wii U. The first pack is The Master Trials, and it will launch this summer. The second DLC pack will launch during the holiday season.

The Expansion Pass is available for a bundle price of $19.99. The first DLC pack will add Trial of the Sword and a new Hard Mode for the game. Speaking on the DLC release, Nintendo of America SVP of Sales and Marketing Doug Bowser stated: “We are always looking for new ways to provide fun and exciting experiences for our fans. Whether you have already completed the adventure or are just getting ready to paraglide into Hyrule for the first time, this new downloadable Expansion Pass makes this massive game even bigger and more engrossing,” said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “We are always looking for new ways to provide fun and exciting experiences for our fans.”

Here’s a full breakdown of content for The Master Trials DLC (Courtesy of Nintendo):

* Trial of the Sword: By accessing this location, players can challenge the new Trial of the Sword (previously known as “Cave of Trials Challenge”), where enemies appear one after another. Link starts without any armor or weapons, and if he defeats all of the enemies in the room he can proceed to the next area. Trial of the Sword will include around 45 total rooms for players to complete. When Link clears all of the trials, the true power of the Master Sword will awaken and always be in its glowing powered-up state.
* Hard Mode: Hard Mode increases ranks for enemies in the game. Players will also encounter higher-ranking enemies through their play throughs.
* Hero’s Path Mode: This new mode will document routes players take throughout Hyrule. The route will last for 200 hours of play time, and there will be a slider to track footsteps on a timeline. This will also work retroactively, and players will be able to see exactly where they have traveled in the game world.
* Travel Medallion: Players can find a new treasure chest with a Travel Medallion. The Medallion will createa new temporary travel point where the player is currently standing. The player can transport to that point at any time.
* Korok Mask: Players will be able to find Korok locations more easily throughout the game. When the player equips this, the mask will shake and there will be a Korok hidden nearby.
* New Equipment There will be eight new pieces of equipment inspired by previous characters and games in the franchise.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is now available on Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Wii U.
