Alex Morono Discusses His Win Over Kyle Noke at UFC 195

January 4, 2016 | Posted by Jeffrey Harris

Speaking to reporters in a post-fight media scrum (via MMAjunkie) following his UFC 195, UFC welterweight fighter Alex Morono discussed his win over Kyle Noke. Morono won the fight in a close split decision. Below are some highlights.

Morono on why he won: ā€œI didnā€™t get hit in the face by him, and Iā€™m pretty sure I broke his nose. So Iā€™m pretty sure I did more physical damage. He scored those takedowns, but he didnā€™t do any damage, and I threw up that armbar (in the third round).ā€

Morono on fighting for the finish: ā€œI fought to finish him, and I think he fought to win or to not lose. You canā€™t do that in the UFC. I donā€™t think people want to see that. We donā€™t get paid to do that. I know I threw some sloppy punches, but I was trying to take his head clean off. I donā€™t think he was trying to do the same thing, and I think thatā€™s why I won that fight.ā€

Morono on his armbar: ā€œI went in there against a 10-fight UFC vet, and went in there really just looking for a KO. Iā€™m always looking for a finish. Iā€™m a little bummed I didnā€™t get it, but I threw some pretty good shots. I know I landed two really good right hands, and I canā€™t believe he didnā€™t tap from that armbar. ā€¦ Once it was fully extended and I heard the little pops, I really just tried to break it. But he was tough. I knew it was tight, and I knew there wasnā€™t a lot of time left. I definitely think that won me the third round, which won me the split.ā€
