September 8, 2016 | Posted by Joseph Lee

In an interview with, Alistair Overeem (41-14 MMA, 6-3 UFC) spoke about CM Punk’s (0-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) upcoming UFC 203 fight with Mickey Gall (2-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC). Overeem will challenge heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic (15-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) at the same event, which happens this Saturday in Cleveland. Here are highlights:

On what he thinks Punk will do: “Either he’s going to lose and quit, or he’s going to win, and he’s going to lose later on and quit. How good can you become in two years?”

On the sport needing fights like this one: “You need to have these show fights to boost the sport. Brock came from the WWE. I think it was great for the sport. The same for CM Punk; he’s getting all the attention. But I think it’s not going to be in his favor, because his division, that’s a very hard division. To me, he’s making a mistake. He doesn’t know what he’s getting himself into.”

On what he’s hoping for: “I am, at the same time, hoping for the upset, because we all love upsets. At the end of the day, we are going to find out what CM Punk is made of.”
