Anthony Johnson Hit With Restraining Order After Allegedly Making Threats Toward Woman He Dated

March 8, 2019 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Retired UFC fighter Anthony Johnson has been slapped with a restraining order filed against him by a woman that he briefly dated. MMAjunkie reports that the woman, whose name is being withheld, filed the restraining order in August and claimed Johnson stalked her online, made threats and posted intimate images of her.

Johnson’s lawyer said that the order was filed after the two dated briefly and then exchanged messages on social media after they broke up. The lawyer said, “He’s saying I’m going to go get my gun, and her interpretation was (the message was) aimed at her. His position was somebody on social media was stalking him, and he was saying it in reference to the person bothering him and not her. That’s his position, and also I believe he may have posted a picture of her performing something intimate on him. But it all had to do with social media postings.”

The order was extended for a year this past month and after that, the woman will “evaluate whether she is still in fear of the defendant and whether extending the injunction is reasonable at that time,” according to the woman’s lawyer. Johnson must stay away from her until February 6th, 2020.

Johnson has a history of domestic violence allegations, having pled no contest to a domestic violence charge in 2009 after forcing his way into an ex-girlfriend’s house and slamming her into the ground. He has denied the allegations and said, “I pled no-contest because that’s what my lawyer told me to do.” He said the situation was an argument in which neither party got physical and added, “To this day, we still talk. We’ve both apologized.” He has also been accused by a different woman of hitting her and knocking out two teeth, though she eventually voluntarily withdrew her restraining order.
