He may or may not return to the cage, but CM Punk is still keeping himself in MMA fighting shape. Anthony Pettis spoke with TMZ Sports ahead of his fight with Stephen Thompson at UFC Fight Night 148 and said that Punk, who had two headline-grabbing but unsuccessful fights in the UFC, is still training at Roufusport gym.

“He is still training,” Pettis said. “I don’t know what his plan is. I know he’s doing some movies and a couple other things, but I’m not sure if he plans on fighting again or what. But, I know he’s still training…That dude’s a hard worker.”

Punk lost to Mickey Gall in his debut MMA fight in 2016, then returned to the UFC for a unanimous decision loss to Mike Jackson. As Pettis said, he’s been acting lately and has earned good reviews for his work in the new supernatural thriller Girl on the Third Floor.

Pettis said he respects Punk, noting, “Not many people in the world can do what he did. I mean, it’s on the biggest stage, and he fought some good guys too. It’s not like he was fighting scrubs. He’s fighting good guys in the UFC…He’s training with killers. He’s training with me, Woodley. He comes in day and day, and he’s getting his butt kicked, and coming back, showing up, so I give him props, man. No matter what, he did it.”
