The internet and sports world was abuzz after Jon Jones called out Brock Lesnar following Jones’ win at UFC 214. The callout has received mainstream media attention, particularly after Lesnar responded by telling the AP, “Be careful what you wish for, young man.” However, it doesn’t appear likely to happen any time soon. Sportskeeda’s Billi Bhatti reports that WWE will not allow Lesnar to fight under his current deal.

According to the site, WWE has no intention of letting Lesnar fight as the last time they did so didn’t turn out in their favor. Lesnar fought at UFC 200 but was flagged for a failed USADA drug test, which forced WWE to acknowledge that their part-timers are not subject to the Wellness Policy. The perception within the company is that the negatives of that whole situation outweighed the positives.

While WWE has set a stipulation that if Lesnar loses at SummerSlam he’ll leave, that is a move simply to piggyback off the recent speculation in order to add interest for the match. WWE has even posted an article on WWE.com looking at the possibility of a Jones/Lesnar fight.

Lesnar’s current contract runs through WrestleMania, so if he does fight Jones it would have to be after then. WWE will need Lesnar for the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 34.
