Brock Lesnar Possibly Facing $1.25 Million+ Fine Due to Failed Drug Test

July 16, 2016 | Posted by Jeffrey Harris

– Brock Lesnar’s possible failed drug test for UFC 200 could end up being one of the most expensive mistakes of his professional athletic career. According to F4WOnline.com, Lesnar could face a fine from the Nevada State Athletic Commission in the amount of $1.25 million to as high as $1.875 million. This is because NSAC guidelines state that athletes may be fined 50 to 75 percent of their purse if they fail a drug test for anabolic steroids. That includes testosterone and human growth hormone.

Lesnar was paid a disclosed salary of $2.5 million for his fight with Mark Hunt at the event, which was held on July 9 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the co-main event, Lesnar defeated Mark Hunt by unanimous decision. Lesnar’s potential USADA violation stems from a June 28 drug test sample. Lesnar’s fine could possibly be lowered if the NSAC believes Lesnar used a tainted supplement.

On the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer also stated that the NSAC could opt to fine Lesnar’s additional PPV bonus money that Lesnar would make from his likely UFC 200 PPV points, which could amount well into the millions. Meltzer believes Lesnar’s total salary for UFC 200 could be about $6 million.

The NSAC is going to have an expected hearing for Lesnar’s USADA violation in the coming weeks. Jon Jones’ hearing is scheduled for Monday, July 18 due to his own drug testing violation. Besides the fine, Lesnar could also be suspended from fighting in MMA again for two years. His win against Mark Hunt would likely be overturned and changed to a No Contest ruling.
