Brock Lesnar looks to be on his way back to the Octagon at last for the long-awaited fight with Daniel Cormier. Ariel Helwani reported on ESPN Sports Center, as you can see below, that the WWE Universal Champion and former UFC heavyweight champion is currently slated to return in August for his fight with Cormier.

“Yes, The UFC wants him back,” Helwani said in response to a question about Lesnar’s status. “As of right now he wants to be back and they’re giving him a heavyweight title fight if he comes back. Daniel Cormier, the heavyweight champion, wants to fight him. Right now, the plan is for them to fight in August, later on this summer, for that heavyweight championship. So it’s not signed just yet, but that’s currently the plan.”

The Lesnar vs. Cormier fight is one that the UFC has been teasing since he appeared at UFC 226, where Cormier won the heavyweight title from Stipe Miocic, and confronted the new champion in the cage. Lesnar susbsequently re-entered the USADA testing pool, though as of late January he had not paid his $250,000 fine in relation to his failed drug test at UFC 200.

What impact the potential UFC return is having, if any, on Lesnar’s match with Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 35 isn’t yet known.
