Chris Camozzi Talks About Getting Hit With Low Blow At UFC Fight Night 73
In an interview with MMA Junkie, Chris Camozzi (22-10 MMA, 7-7 UFC) spoke about getting hit with a low blow from Tom Watson (17-9 MMA, 2-5 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 73.
On Watson’s cardio: “His cardio is good. I would say his cardio is some of the best of anybody I’ve fought. He did what he said he was going to do and came forward. The problem was that he came forward into everything I was throwing. We worked a lot on throwing and getting off on angles. My takedown defense has come a long way, I knew he wouldn’t be able to take me down. I felt a lot more comfortable throwing and moving there.”
On how the fight went: “…My plan was to finish him and I thought I had him finished in the first round. That ten-finger guillotine is my move. I had his back to the cage and I had his neck folded. I could feel him gurgling, but he was tough and he fought through it. When I locked it up the second time I thought it was over again. He managed to hook inside my glove a little bit and get out of my choke.”
On the low blows: “It rang the bell, for sure. That one was solid. The first one stung a little bit. It wasn’t a solid shot to the nuts, but the second one it hurt deep down. It took me a second.”
