Conor McGregor Blames ONE Championship For Possible End of UFC Flyweight Division
In a post on Twitter, Conor McGregor put the blame on ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong for ending the UFC flyweight division. MMA Junkie reports that there is speculation that UFC is planning to dissolve the division and fire most of the fighters. Jose Torres (who expressed concern for the division) and Jarred Brooks have already been released.
This follows the news that ONE signed Demetrious Johnson in a trade for Ben Askren. Johnson was arguably the biggest star of the division, even after losing his belt to Henry Cejudo.
McGregor wrote:
You must now take all the 125lbers that have been let go, Chatri.
You talk all of this Martial Art and respect talk, yet your greed has directly cost more than half a fighting division it’s chance to earn income for their family.
Have respect @YODCHATRI.
