Conor McGregor said during an appearance on Stephen A. Smith’s ESPN+ show (h/t ESPN) that he wants to fight seven times in the next 18 months including his battle with Dustin Poirier at UFC 257.

“The truth is the fight game will never get rid of me,” McGregor said. “Conor McGregor will be here until the day I go out. So that’s it. If they line me up, I’ll get about seven fights in the next year and a half. That’s what I want.”

After beating Donald Cerrone last January, McGregor had wanted to fight multiple times in 2020, but those plans got derailed due to the pandemic, his dispute with UFC, and his retirement.

McGregor wants to surpass his seven fight wins in 32 months achievement, set in the UFC featherweight division. Now he’s fighting in the lightweight division.

“I’ve got four fights left on this contract with the UFC,” McGregor added. “I’d do it in the first quarter of 2021 if they give me the dates.”

McGregor added that his dispute with UFC last year was because he wanted to fight and grew frustrated with not getting dates.

“It was like, you know what, you’re not gonna treat me with respect? I’m gone,” McGregor said. “Sometimes you have to take yourself out of a situation if you’re not being respected or appreciated. Just distance yourself from it.”
