Damien Brown Says Getting a UFC Fight Was Overwhelming

Damien Brown spoke with MMAjunkie about his UFC debut against Alan Patrick at UFC Fight Night 85. Check out the highlights:

On his wife getting the call for his UFC shot while he was working his day job at a jail: “Three or four days a week, I’m un-contactable unless my wife rings me at work. And no one else has the number. It was kind of strange to get her to call me at work for the first time in three years – she never hassles me (at work) unless it’s an emergency.”

On his reaction to the opportunity: “It was literally two emails and it was done. Then we were waiting for them to accept, and I was sick – physically ill, for 45 minutes or an hour waiting for them to accept. When I finally found out, I was kind of overhwhelmed. I’ve been on six-fight winning streaks, three-fight winning streaks – and I know the UFC is big on records and win streaks, so it was definitely an overwhelming experience.”

On the fight: “I feel like I’ve got a good enough game all around to stop someone from getting to their strong point. I can do it all, and I can do it all well enough to win a fight. And more so, I can find a way to win a fight. I think I’ll be able to deal with whatever he throws at me.”
