Dana White has the UFC moving full steam ahead, and hopes to get the company back to events in Las Vegas later this month. White spoke with Sports Illustrated and said that he is aiming for a May 23rd event in Las Vegas.

White told the site, “While everybody was f**king lying out by the pool, hanging out and doing whatever the f**k they’re doing in quarantine, we were in here f**king grinding, man. Fighting crazy wars every day to put on this first event. We pulled it off. We were gonna be able to hold this thing earlier, and they asked us to stand down. … Now we’re going Saturday, Wednesday, Saturday. And I don’t think I’ve told anybody this yet: We’re gonna come back to Vegas and put on a fight May 23.”

White didn’t offer additional details on the potential event, though it seems likely to take place at the UFC Apex. As of now, the Nevada State Athletic Commission has not given an indication that it will open any time soon.

The company returns this weekend with UFC 249 on Saturday, followed with UFC Fight Night events next Wednesday and the following Saturday. All those events will take place at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida without audiences.
