Dana White Confirms That Anderson Silva Gets A Title Shot If He Wins At UFC 234

Earlier this week, Anderson Silva said that he was promised a title shot if he beats Israel Adesanya at UFC 234. In an interview with MMA Junkie, UFC President Dana White confirmed that Silva will get a middleweight title opportunity if he wins. Here are highlights:

On Anderson Silva’s title shot: “It’s true. I haven’t seen (Anderson) in a while. I flew out to Los Angeles, and we sat down and talked. I told him I wanted the Israel Adesanya fight and he says, ‘I’m just coming back, how does that make sense for me?’ I said, ‘It makes sense for you because if you win I’ll give you the title shot.’ He said, ‘Now you’re talking, buddy. I like the way you’re thinking.’”

On Anderson Silva wanting more challenges: “I love that. I love that Anderson Silva wants to come back and fight Israel for a title shot. Beautiful. Once I told him it was for the title we had a fight.”
