UFC President Dana White said on the Jim Rome Show on Friday (h/t ESPN) that Kamaru Usman defending his welterweight title against Jorge Masvidal is being targeted for July.

“[Masvidal] and Usman will fight in Vegas, probably International Fight Week,” White said. “If [Masvidal] wins, maybe we’ll do his first title defense down here in Miami.”

Masvidal has expressed interest in fighting Conor McGregor, following McGregor’s win over Donald Cerrone, but it looks like White is penciling him in to face Usman, and told ESPN’s The Will Cain Show that McGregor will “probably” face the winner of the Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson fight at UFC 249. The one potential roadblock is that if Khabib wins, he likely won’t fight against until the fall, due to his observance of Ramadan which starts in late April. McGregor has said he wants to fight sooner than that.

“Conor is talking now about not wanting to wait that long,” White said. “I don’t know what else makes sense, but who knows with that kid? The reason everybody loves him so much is who knows who he’ll say, ‘You know what, I want to fight this guy now.’ Some other weight class, or whatever it might be. But he keeps it fun.”
