Daniel Cormier Is Past His Feud With Jon Jones

January 21, 2018 | Posted by Jeffrey Harris

Speaking to reporters at the post-fight press conference for UFC 220, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier discussed his knockout victory over Volkan Oezdemir and what’s next for him with the win. During the presser, he was asked about disgraced former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, who is currently undergoing a legal process regarding a potential drug test failure for USADA that was revealed after Jones defeated Cormier by knockout last year.

Cormier stated on Jones during the presser: “I’m just past it right now. Until he’s able to do what we want to do, and that’s fight, I’m kind of past it. I’m kind of a bit of this spot, when it comes to Jones. Competitively, all I want to do is fight him again. But at some point, it’s just like, ‘Man, is it ever going to be just a fight without nothing else?’ And I don’t know if I can put myself through that again. I’ve done everything right. And I’ve just been dragged down by this guy constantly. So I’m not thinking about it. I’m going to do my thing for right now.”

UFC 220 was held last night at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. The event was broadcast live on pay-per-view. The prelims were shown live on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass. You can check out 411’s live results and coverage of the event RIGHT HERE.
