Daniel Cormier Sad About Cain Velasquez’ Retirement From MMA

October 13, 2019 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Daniel Cormier is sad to see that his close friend Cain Velasquez is done with MMA. Cormier spoke with MMA Fighting about Velasquez announcing his retirement upon signing with WWE on Friday, saying that he’s happy for Velasquez but sad he won’t see his teammate fight in the Octagon again.

“It’s a sad day when Cain Velasquez retires,” Cormier said. “But I know that he is doing something that he loves. I remember watching him at Elimination Chamber and you can see that this was something that he could love, I am not sure he ever fell for something faster, well except for when he met [his wife] Michelle. I’m very happy for Cain and Michelle and the kids. But the biggest winner in this whole deal is the WWE Universe, they are in for a treat watching Cain perform. I’m excited to see the program between him and Brock. Congratulations to my brother. Exciting times.”

Velasquez is set to face Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship at Crown Jewel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on October 31st.
