Goiti Yamauchi Isn’t Guaranteed a Title Shot With Bellator 151 Win

March 3, 2016 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Goiti Yamauchi spoke with MMAjunkie about his fight with Bubba Jenkins at Bellator 151. Check out the highlights:

On his win over Isao Kobayashi at Bellator 144: “I was very happy with my latest performance against Isao Kobayashi. He’s a great fighter – number one in Japan. He’s the king of Pancrase and was coming off victories over Marlon Sandro and other tough fighters. It was a great challenge. I was able to make a difficult fight look easy. I did a good job, though it was far from my best.”

On a possible featherweight title shot if he wins on Friday: “Nothing is promised. I still have to prove it to the promotion, so they can believe me. Everything depends on this next fight. The way I win, my performance, will show that. It’s a very important fight for me. It’s on the promotion’s hands after that. I just want to put on a great fight, so I’ll have my shot at the title. I’m not in the promotion for showcase fights. I want the belt.”

On Jenkins: “Bubba is a great athlete. He has great wrestling. His submissions and striking are also good. But I think I’ll surpass him with my technical abilities, not just in a physical sense. I think I can also break him mentally. It’s going to be like all my fights – I’m going to impose my game and give my best. I’m not sure what strategy I’ll be using. I just know that I’ll give my best, while targeting his weak points.”
