Joe Rogan is walking back a statement he made in the wake of Conor McGregor punching a man for not accepting a round of his whiskey. Rogan spoke on his Joe Rogan Experience podcast recently about his original comments, in which he said McGregor shouldn’t have done it but downplayed it, saying McGregor was living the life that he should be living as long as he’s not getting “locked up.”

Discussing his original comments (as you can see in the video below), Rogan said that he has since rewatched the video and realized it was more severe than he originally thought. “I watched that again,” he said. “I thought it was a touch, last time I talked about it but it looked like almost like a punch. I mean, he hit him. I misspoke. I basically just thought he touched him in the face because I watched it on my phone and it wasn’t that clear. Then I watched it on a computer and was like ‘oh’.”

McGregor has since apologies for his actions, which occured back in April at a bar in Dublin. He told Ariel Helwani that he was “in the wrong” and shouldn’t have done it.
