Hello everyone and welcome to 411mania’s LIVE coverage of UFC Fight Night 132. I’m Robert Winfree and I’ll be your host for this event, calling the action just as I see it. Here’s my basic apology for quality but it’s 2:30 am here for the start of this so if I’m a little off blame the caffeine induced insomnia so I can be here to cover this.

Fight Night 132 is, well. . . boy am I hoping it’s better in practice than it is on paper because calling this uninspiring might be generous. That being said the main event is a relevant welterweight fight between fan favorite veteran Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and rising, and frankly under appreciated, contender Leon Edwards. The co-main is a battle for position in the talent starved light heavyweight division when prospect Tyson Pedro takes on former title challenger Ovince Saint Preux. Beyond that it’s a lot of fighters you might not have heard of, though if I were to spotlight another fight it would be the UFC debut of ACB bantamweight champion Petr Yan. Yan might not be a household name but if you’ve seen his ACB fights, and they’re up on the ACB youtube page, you’ll know why I’m curious to see him debut in the UFC.

UFC Fight Night 132 comes to the world from the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. On commentary we have the usual overseas commentary duo of John Gooden and Dan Hardy calling the action. As for the rules, since the UFC is mostly self regulating here we’ll be under the new rule set. So extending fingers towards your opponent is a foul regardless of contact being made, you need both palms or fists flat on the mat to be considered downed, and the language around scoring is clearer and slightly more encouraging of 10-8 rounds.

Melinda Fabian fought to a draw in her UFC debut, now she’s trying to get her first win since December of 2016 while securing the all important first UFC victory. Ji Yeon Kim has gone 1-1 in the UFC but is coming off of a win and is looking for her first UFC winning streak to start moving towards an official UFC ranking. The odds are with Kim at -340 to +260 for Fabian.

Women’s Flyweight Bout: Melinda Fabian (4-3-2, 124 lbs.) vs. Ji Yeon Kim (7-1-2, 125.5 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: Kim is an inch taller and has five and a half inches of reach on Fabian. They touch gloves to get us going and Kim starts circling. Fabian lands a right, Kim returns it. Not much defense from either woman yet, they’re getting close and trading. Kim lands a right. Stiff jab from Kim then they trade some rights. Still little defense and both women are landing when they exchange. Kim lands a couple of rights. If either woman is able to get a read on their left they’ll likely hurt the other as they’re leaning away from the right. Fabian lands a couple of leg kicks then a right, she’s starting to diversify her offense whereas Kim is very right hand focused. They trade leg kicks, and Kim lands a solid right. Another solid right from Kim and Fabian’s left eye is discolored. Fabian lands a jab. Kim is doing a lot of head hunting, and lands a hard right that wobbles Fabian. Fabian clinches up to try and recover, Kim gets a few knees to the body. They end the round with another knee from Kim.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Kim

ROUND TWO: Fabian is bleeding from the nose and her left eye is starting to swell a bit. They touch gloves for the second round. Fabian is starting to feint now, then eats a right and has to clinch up. Kim is on the fence and they trade some knees to the body while jockeying for position. They break with a left from Kim. Fabian lands a right that definitely got Kim’s attention. Kim lands a couple of lefts but Fabian is the one moving better. Another right from Kim lands. They split rights but Kim’s caused more damage. Another right from Kim and Fabian’s nose is bleeding again. Kim lands a straight right and Fabian is wobbled, she winds up clinching and basically pulling guard to stall out the final couple of seconds.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Kim, 20-18 Kim overall

ROUND THREE: Fabian’s left eye is a bit of a mess at this point, not bad enough to stop the fight but it looks pretty gnarly. Kim jabs the body and is trying to back Fabian into the fence. Sharp jab from Kim gets the blood flowing from Fabian’s nose. Kim lands a right. They trade rights but Fabian landed better, though it seems the pressure of Kim might be starting to work. Fabian lands a right, Kim responds with a jab. They clinch up and trade knees as Fabian pushes Kim into the fence. More knees are going back and forth but Kim is winning the battle of hand position. Fabian lands an elbow as Kim gets a body lock. They trade knees and keep jockeying for position, Fabian is keeping Kim on the fence through strength at this point, and the round ends in that spot.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Fabian, 29-28 Kim overall

Oh, it’s gonna be one of those events then is it? Come on Clucky, it’s too late/early for this. OK, that might be a slight exaggeration on my part as Fabian did good work for much of the second round but got rocked towards the end. Still, slightly dubious all things considered. No interview for Kim but not the worst way to start the event.

Jenel Lauza has gone 1-2 in the UFC and is currently on a two fight losing streak, he needs a win here to avoid the dreaded three fight losing streak. Yuta Sasaki has gone 2-2 since moving to flyweight but those losses have been to top contenders Wilson Reis and Jussier Formiga, he’s coming off of the Formiga loss and he’s trying to avoid his first losing streak at flyweight. The odds are with Sasaki at -265 against a +205 comeback on Lausa.

Flyweight Bout: Jenel Lausa (7-4, 126 lbs.) vs. Yuta “Ulka” Sasaki (20-5-2, 126 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: Sasaki is a whopping five inches taller and has two and a half inches of reach on Lausa. Sasaki with a touch of gloves into a low single leg attempt, Lauza trying to defend against the fence but he’s struggling. Lausa’s butt hits the mat and Sasaki is trying to strip his base away. Lausa up, Sasaki gets a double leg though and is now looking to pass the guard. Sasaki into half guard, nearly in side control but Lausa is able to get his guard back. Lausa is trying to wall walk but Sasaki keeps stripping his posts away and is trying to get him away from the fence. Lausa is back up, Sasaki after a takedown as Lausa elbows the head. Sasaki is able to force a scramble and gets the back before Lausa is able to spin into him and get half guard. Butterfly guard for Lausa now, he kicks Sasaki off but Sasaki dives back into the clinch. Knees to the body from Sasaki then he gets a single leg takedown. Sasaki has side control, now into full mount and he’s looking to land blows. Lausa tries to bridge but Sasaki goes for the armbar, they stall out a bit and Lausa will see the end of the round.

SCORECARD: 10-8 Sasaki given the margin he won the round by

ROUND TWO: Lausa declines the touch of gloves this time and avoids a takedown attempt. Lausa lands a right then avoids a diving double leg. Sasaki is bleeding from both knees, just mat rash that’s opened up from the takedowns in the first. Sasaki lands a couple of body kicks, he’s fighting southpaw so those are going to the liver. More body kicks from Sasaki, those are slowing Lausa down a bit. Lausa lands a right to the body then misses a couple of rights. Sasaki gets a single leg and spins Lausa to the mat, he’s on top again and Lausa has his feet on the hips of Sasaki. Sasaki is able to pressure through the position and moves to side control, he’s after full mount again but can’t get it yet. Full mount from Sasaki and he’s landing a few lateral elbows. Sasaki postures up and is throwing punches and elbows as Lausa tries to hip escape but can’t complete it. One of Lausa’s arms is hand cuffed behind the back and Sasaki very nicely spins to the back and is after the choke. The arm is across the chin rather than under it but Sasaki cranks on it hard enough to force the tap.

Sasaki was clearly the superior grappler and force it there. Mic time for Sasaki, he puts over the striking of Lausa as the reason for his grappling heavy game plan then thanks his family and coaches. He’s trying to speak in English then switches to Japanese for the finer points. Asked about the finish he talks us through the back take and calls out Sergio Pettis, well can’t fault his ambition even if that’s a highly unlikely outcome.

Here’s the finish, only the choke which is a shame because that back take was really sweet.

Matt Schnell just broke a two fight losing streak to get his first UFC win, now he’s trying to get his first UFC winning streak up and running. Naoki Inoue is undefeated and scored a win in his UFC debut. He last fought a little over a year ago in this same venue and if he can keep his record perfect here he might find himself fighting a more recognizable opponent next. Your favorite is Inoue at -205 while Schnell’s comeback sits at +165.

Flyweight Bout: Naoki Inoue (11-0, 124 lbs.) vs. Matt Schnell (10-4, 126 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: Inoue has an inch of height and reach on Schnell. They touch gloves to get us going. Inoue lands a couple of leg kicks, Schnell lands a bit of a right. Bit of a jab from Inoue, Schnell is trying calf kicks. Schnell lands a right, at distance he’s at a disadvantage but in the pocket he’s landing sharp punches. A couple of punches land for Inoue and a leg kick behind it. Schnell lands a left hook then a right to follow up. Both men sniping with leg kicks while looking for an opening. They trade rights in close, Inoue lands a left hook. Inoue’s jab is starting to do work, Schnell is a little out of sorts. Schnell doubles up on the right hand and lands the second. Inoue lands a right then they split lefts. More jabs from Inoue but he eats a left hook for it. Calf kick from Schnell. Schnell lands a right then another calf kick, those kicks are starting to add up. They feint away the final seconds, pretty good round.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Schnell but there’s an argument for Inoue in there

ROUND TWO: They touch gloves for the second round, Schnell is bleeding a bit from the nose. Schnell lands a leg kick, he’s putting combinations together now. Inoue lands a couple of jabs. Schnell lands another calf kick. Counter left lands for Inoue, then a jab and Schnell lands another leg kick. Stiff couple of jabs from Inoue then he lands a leg kick. Schnell lands a left then a leg kick. Counter right from Inoue, Schnell is struggling at distance, he’s falling a little short with his punches. Calf kick from Schnell then he eats a right. More jabs from Inoue. One two from Inoue, Schnell lands a front kick to the chest. Inoue lands another left. Inoue is countering better this round, he’s feinting to draw out Schnell then tagging him. They trade a bit as the round ends.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Inoue but another close round, 19-19 overall

ROUND THREE: Both of Schnell’s eyes are a little abused, nothing major but he’s more marked up than Inoue is. They touch gloves for the final round. Inoue lands a few jabs, that jab is frustrating Schnell as he’s missing his hooks. Schnell after a takedown, Inoue defends then tries a single leg of his own against the fence but has to settle for the clinch. Inoue has a body lock and is landing knees to the body and thigh. They break with a bit of a left from Schnell. Inoue is back to jabbing, and eats a leg kick. Schnell might be slowing just a hair, and Inoue lands a straight right. They trade leg kicks. Schnell lands a jab. Inoue lands a right and avoids the counters. They trade rights and both men landed flush. Schnell lands a leg kick then eats a couple of jabs. Inoue slips a couple of hooks then lands a right. Leg kick from Schnell then Inoue lands a right. A jab from Inoue is the last relevant blow of the round.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Inoue but another close one, 29-28 Inoue overall but who knows

Can’t argue that one, good little fight and either man could have won. No interview for Schnell.

Yan Xiaonan had a successful UFC debut when she bested Kailin Curran and hasn’t lost since 2010, she’s looking for back to back UFC wins while she climbs the ranks at strawweight. Viviane Pereira has gone 2-1 in the UFC but is coming off of her first loss when she lost a lopsided decision to Tatiana Suarez, she’s trying to bounce back from that here and avoid her first losing streak. The odds favor Pereira at -205 to +165 for Xiaonan.

Strawweight Bout: Viviane Pereira (13-1, 115.5 lbs.) vs. Yan Xiaonan (8-1 1 NC, 116 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: Xiaonan is four inches taller but the reach is identical. They touch gloves to get us going. Xiaonan showing the jab and misses a hook kick. Jab from Xiaonan lands, she’s fighting tall and Pereira is looking to swing hooks to counter her. Xiaonan lands a jab and a bit of a right. Right from Xiaonan, the counter hooks from Pereira are just a shade too slow and too looping. Xiaonan lands a couple of jabs. Head kick from Xiaonan lands but Pereira just eats it. Xiaonan is sniping with the jab then if she follows up she’s getting inside the looping hooks to avoid them before backing out. Xiaonan lands a right. Pereira lands a right to the body. Both women are starting to adjust a bit at this point, Pereira is slipping more of the offense and Xiaonan isn’t going into the pocket as much. They trade rights then Xiaonan lands a jab. Another exchange of rights and Xiaonan lands a leg kick. Pereira misses a right and Xiaonan lands a right to close the round.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Xiaonan

ROUND TWO: Xiaonan lands an inside leg kick, Pereira is bleeding from the bridge of the nose. Another inside leg kick from Xiaonan. Xiaonan is kicking more, she’s really invested in sniping and keeping distance as Pereira tries to wade forward ineffectually. Pereira lands a right to the body but she’s getting out worked. More leg kicks from Xiaonan. Quick combination from Pereira lands then Xiaonan lands a right and a leg kick. Another exchange or rights, Pereira misses a right and eats a right hand counter. Xiaonan lands a couple of inside leg kicks, Pereira lands a bit of a left hook to counter. Pereira lands a right. Xiaonan lands a couple of inside leg kicks then a right and avoids the counters. Hard inside leg kick from Xiaonan then a bit of a head kick and a right behind it. They close with a left from Xiaonan.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Xiaonan, 20-18 Xiaonan overall

ROUND THREE: They touch gloves for the last round. Xiaonan showing the jab and inside leg kick again, she’s still sniping at distance and Pereira isn’t closing distance. Pereira misses a few hooks then eats an inside leg kick. Xiaonan lands a jab, I kind of wish she’d throw that to the body a few times as well because it’s becoming a bit predictable. Right from Xiaonan and she avoids the counter right. More jabs and leg kicks from Xiaonan, she’s piling up points if nothing else. Body kick from Xiaonan lands. More blood from the bridge of Pereir’as nose. They trade rights and Xiaonan lands a hook kick. Another jab from Xiaonan lands. Pereira lands a couple of punches. We get a bit of RoadHouse to close out the round.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Xiaonan, 30-27 Xiaonan overall

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Yan Xiaonan via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28 x2)

Minor confusion as the ref raised the wrong hand, Bruce Buffer is happy to correct him though and it doesn’t become an issue. No interview for Xiaonan.

Here’s the finish to the last round, it didn’t play too much into the scoring but it’s a fun little exchange to help kill some of your time.

Shinso Anzai has gone 2-1 in the UFC but is on a two fight winning streak, he’s trying to make it three in a row here against a noted prospect. Jake Matthews has gone 2-0 since returning to welterweight and if he can get that to three in a row you could argue he’s made the difficult jump from prospect to legitimate player in the division. Matthews is a significant -550 favorite while the +370 payout for Anzai has to tempt a few long shot bettors out there.

Welterweight Bout: Shinsho Anzai (10-2, 171 lbs.) vs. Jake Matthews (13-3, 171 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: Matthews is four and a half inches taller and has two and a half inches of reach on Anzai. They touch gloves to get things going. Anzai bulls forward but Matthews stiff arms him then circles away. Bit of a right from Matthews, Anzai is still coming forward. Matthews lands a hard knee as Anzai goes for a double leg, Anzai just eats it and gets the clinch. Knee to the body, then head from Matthews. Another knee to the head from Matthews, Anzai lands one to the body. Another knee to the head from Anzai prompts a break in the clinch and we reset. Matthews lands some uppercuts then hits a knee tap and is on top of Anzai. Matthews is busting Anzai up so far, and he moves to half guard then lands a short elbow. More punches and elbows from Matthews, Anzai gives up his back and Matthews is under the chin with the choke, gets a body triangle and Anzai goes out rather than tap.

The First Round Finish Club thanks Mr. Matthews for his work this early morning. Matthews gets an interview after that mauling, he says the knees were a big part of the game plan because Anzai is a wrestler. Asked who’s next he says whoever the UFC wants as the UFC has the best match makers in the world and feels they wont do him wrong. Hold onto that thought as long as possible Matthews, because it’s just not true.

Here’s the finish, Anzai was just not anywhere near the level of Matthews and got run over.

Song Kenan broke a two fight losing streak when he debuted in the UFC and stopped Bobby Nash in less than twenty seconds, he’s trying to keep that momentum going here and prove that win was no fluke. Hector Aldana might not be familiar to any of you, he competed on the second season of TUF: Latin America but hasn’t been seen since losing on the show. Specifically that fight was around April of 2015, but now he’s back and making his official UFC debut. Kenan is your -300 favorite to +230 for Aldana.

Welterweight Bout: Hector Aldana (4-0, 169 lbs.) vs. Song Kenan (13-4, 170.5 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: Kenan is an inch taller while Aldana has an inch of reach advantage. Aldana lands an inside leg kick. Kenan blocks some punches and lands a counter. Aldana is already bleeding though I’m not sure where from. Right to the body from Aldana. That blood is coming from around the right eye of Aldana, not sure specifically where but it’s not good. Bit of a well kick from Kenan, Aldana responds with a powerful leg kick. Body kick from Kenan but Aldana catches it and gets him down but Kenan scrambles back up immediately. Kenan lands a side kick to the knee. Aldana lands another inside leg kick. Another takedown from Aldana, Kenan kicks him off and eats a short right before Aldana backs off. They stare away the final few seconds.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Aldana

ROUND TWO: That cut is actually on the lower eyelid, it looks split a bit and that could be a fight stopper if it gets any worse. Aldana opens up with a leg kick, then another one. Body kick from Kenan then he lands a right. Another body kick from Kenan, Aldana doesn’t like those. Bit of a left from Kenan then a wheel kick that didn’t have a lot on it. Aldana lands another couple of leg kicks, those are adding up quickly at this point. Another inside leg kick from Aldana then a calf kick. Kenan wobbles Aldana with a left and he’s chasing him down but Aldana fires back at him. Kenan trying to keep distance, he lands a front kick to the groin of Aldana and we’ve got time for him to recover. Aldana walks it off quickly and we’re back to fighting. Hard right from Kenan drops Aldana and he swarms him on the mat with hammer fists to force the stoppage. Well that was a quick turnaround for Kenan who was getting chewed up.

That’s what happens when you straighten out your punches guys. Kenan gets an interview and puts over Aldana as a strong opponent who he expected to grapple him. He talks us through the finish but was a little surprised at how effective that punch was but is happy with the finish.

Here’s the finish, Kenan steps in and this time throws the punch straight instead of looping it and Aldana was clearly expecting a looping blow because he opens up the center lane for that punch to travel down.

Rolando Dy just got his first UFC win, but missed weight in the process. Now Dy is trying to get a UFC winning streak going, and hopefully one that doesn’t have the caveat of a weight cutting gaff attached to it. Shane Young had a five fight winning streak broken in his UFC debut when he ran into the smashing machine that is Alexander Volkanovski, he’s trying to avoid his first losing streak here and affirm his position as a prospect in the division. Young is your -155 favorite to +125 for Dy.

Featherweight Bout: Rolando Dy (9-6 1 NC, 146 lbs.) vs. Shane Young (11-4, 146 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: These two are the same height while Young has three inches of reach on Dy. Young stalking forward quickly, he avoids a couple of punches from Dy. A couple of body shots from Young then he lands a right to the chin. Double leg from Young, switches to a single leg but Dy is able to break that grip then spin free. Young lands a leg kick, Dy returns it. Dy lands a couple of punches, Young lands a leg kick. Young lands a double jab, his jab has been landing as Dy doesn’t seem to care about it. Straight right lands for Young. Young avoids a head kick and lands a right. Dy lands a left to the body then a left to the head. Elbow from Dy in close lands. Young lands a right that staggers Dy, Dy lands a counter left when he tried to swarm him and Young switches to a double leg and gets Dy down. Dy has half guard, Young looking to pass but Dy wall walks then they break. Young avoids a head kick then lands a right. Leg kick from Young. Young lands a left body kick then a right. A clinch from Young and they trade body work then Dy lands an elbow as they break. Young lands a right and Dy lands a counter left. Dy lands a left to the body then head, Young grabs a clinch as the round ends.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Young

ROUND TWO: Dy lands a left hook to start the round, then misses a head kick. Young slips some hooks then gets a double leg, Dy bounces up but can’t get free as they hit the fence. Young lands an elbow, Dy lands a right as they break. Dy lands a left hook. Young lands a right. Dy is too content to stand on the fence and look to counter, he’s getting tagged. Right from Dy lands, and another one. Young lands an elbow in close, and Dy is bleeding from the corner of the left eyebrow. Young is mostly relying on pressure here rather than technique. Dy lands a left to the body then a right to the head. More pressure from Young, he’s not going to be deterred and gets the clinch on the fence. Knees to the body from Young before they break and they trade rights. Dy avoids a head kick and lands a couple of punches then Young gets a clinch. Young digs to the body and Dy lands an elbow. Dy lands a left hook, Young responds with a straight right. Left body kick from Dy, Young still coming forward and they trade body work. Dy lands a right, Young responds with a combination and Dy is fading under the pressure. Young slips a right and lands a right elbow that locks up Dy, Young swarms him along the fence until he drops to the mat and the ref waves this one off.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Shane Young via TKO, elbow and punches, at 4:40 of Round 2

Just an ugly fight from Young, and I mean that as a compliment in this instance. Young opens with some, I think Maori as he’s a New Zealander. He confirms that it was Maori, or their language, as he’s a native New Zealander and wanted to express his love for his culture and their warrior history. He brings up the history of the Maori people and their warrior ways and Hardy has to cut the interview short after that thought.

Here’s the finish, Young ducks under a wild right as Dy was a little gassed and abused, then as Dy’s weight is still continuing forward Young throws that right elbow and Dy’s momentum carries his head straight into the bone. I’m a sucker for a good elbow finish.

Felipe Arantes has been with the UFC since 2011 and is currently on a two fight losing streak, he’s hoping to break that here and remind everyone that he’s a legitimate player in the bantamweight division. Song Yadong has won four in a row including a successful UFC debut, he’s trying to take out a proven veteran here and prove he’s someone to pay attention to. Yadong is a slight -130 favorite while the +100 payout on Arantes is a tempting value bet.

Bantamweight Bout: Felipe Arantes (18-9-1 2 NC, 136 lbs.) vs. Song Yadong (12-4, 135 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: These two are the same height but Arantes has a whopping six inches of reach advantage, Arantes is also a full decade older. They touch gloves to get us going. Yadong lands a jab, Arantes is coming forward early. Yadong lands a leg kick. Arantes still coming forward, he’s covering up and Yadong is starting to dig the body as a response. Arantes still coming forward, Yadong jabbing to the body and head. The hand speed of Yadong is good but Arantes is blocking most of his offerings to the head. Yadong lands to the body then lands a bit of a wheel kick. Arantes lands a jab then takes a right to the body. Leg kick from Yadong. Bit of a head kick from Arantes but he loses his balance and Yadong lands punches before following into half guard. Elbows from Yadong as Arantes gets a knee shield in place and now has full guard. Another couple of elbows from Yadong. The round ends with them in that position.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Yadong

ROUND TWO: Yadong comes out quickly and has a head kick blocked, Arantes fires back and we’ve got a firefight for a few seconds. Yadong avoids a double leg and gets on top as Arantes basically pulled guard. Arantes fighting for wrist control, Yadong lands some elbows to the head. Body shots and elbows to the head from Yadong. Arantes is way too comfortable off of his back here, Yadong is pounding him and gets to the back briefly then takes side control. Yadong avoids a knee bar attempt and starts landing knees to the body from a ride position as Arantes is on his knees just covering up. Yadong moving well and just smashing on Arantes, then grabs an arm triangle position and he’s got it locked up. I’m shocked that Arantes didn’t try to block that sooner, Yadong decides to bail and lands punches while securing side control. Elbows to the body from Yadong, Arantes bridges and regains his feet at distance. Arantes lands an uppercut then pushes into the clinch. Single leg attempt from Arantes but Yadong blocks it and spins him into the fence. Yadong lands a WICKED elbow as they half break a clinch and Arantes drops like a sack of potatoes and the ref dives in to save him from more abuse.

Just a beautifully placed elbow, hopefully I’ll find a video for you. Mic time for Yadong who says he worked very hard for the success he’s enjoying and believes the hard work is the reason for it. He says the elbow wasn’t a specially trained move, just something he felt in the moment. Since that doesn’t quite do the accuracy justice, here’s another version. The blow lands behind the hear and on the back of the jaw, one of the worst places to get hit if you want to stay upright.

Teruto Ishihara has had a rough go of it lately, he’s just 1-3 in his last four fights and is coming off of a loss in his return to bantamweight and needs a win badly here because a second two fight losing streak in five fights is a bad look for anyone. Petr Yan has been making waves in the ACB promotion and was their bantamweight champion before signing with the UFC, he’s looking to make a stellar first impression here in his UFC debut. Yan is your big -550 favorite while an Ishihara win would pay out at +375.

Bantamweight Bout: Teruto Ishihara (10-5-2, 136 lbs.) vs. Petr Yan (8-1, 136 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: Yan is half an inch taller while Ishihara has two inches of reach on him. They touch gloves, Ishihara fighting southpaw. Yan stalking forward and cutting off Ishihara’s movement. Bit of a left from Ishihara that’s blocked. Yan lands a right to the body. Ishihara lands a body kick then gets a double leg but Yan bounces right back up and separates. Yan doing some stance switching now, he lands a straight right. Right to the body from Yan. Right then a left from Yan. Ishihara reaches badly for a takedown and is easily blocked. Yan lands a left, he just wont give Ishihara space to breathe then wobbles him with a left and drops him with a right. Yan punches Ishihara as he stands then drives him away with a spinning elbow and floors Ishihara with a right that ends the fight.

The First Round Finish Club thanks Mr. Yan for his work this morning. Yan just tuned him up once he found the timing and distance he wanted, but gets no interview. I’m assuming that’s a translation issue because otherwise it’s a huge missed opportunity.

Here’s the finish, Ishihara was already wobbled here, Yan wobbles him again with a spinning attack then puts him down and out with a lovely straight right.

And here’s the full thing, assuming it’s playable for you depending on your geographic location. Just smart, technical stuff from Yan who applied pressure until he found the spot he wanted.

That ends the preliminary portion of the card but we’re still on Fight Pass for the main card.

Li Jingliang just had a four fight winning streak snapped by Jake Matthews, he’s trying to get back on track here and avoid his first professional losing streak. Daichi Abe has gone 1-1 in the UFC and is coming off of a loss, he’s also trying to avoid his first losing streak. The odds are with Jingliang at -260 to +200 for Abe.

Welterweight Bout: Daichi Abe (6-1, 170.5 lbs.) vs. Li Jingliang (14-5, 170 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: Jingliang is an inch taller but the reach is identical. Both men feinting a bit as they start the first round. Jingliang jabs the body, Abe lands an inside leg kick. Abe is doing a bit of stance switching, when he’s southpaw he lands a side kick to the lead leg. Jingliang lands a leg kick. Abe lands a jab. They’re both landing some inside leg kicks now, still getting a feel for each other. Abe lands a bit of a head kick. Jingliang lands a right, Abe returns it. Abe has a head kick blocked. Jingliang lands a jab and a leg kick, then a right to counter an Abe leg kick. Solid right from Jingliang has Abe shaken up a bit. Inside leg kick then a right from Jingliang and Abe is definitely a little wobbled and backing up. Leg kick from Jingliang. Body kick and a right from Abe wobbles Jingliang for a second, but he recovers and lands a jab. Abe lands a body kick. Jingliang pushes lcose and lands a right, Abe lands a leg kick to close out the round.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Jingliang but Abe might have stolen it at the end there

ROUND TWO: Jingliang coming forward again, Abe doing some stance switching again. A few inside leg kicks from Jingliang and Abe misses a wheel kick. Hard inside leg kick from Jingliang, he’s trying to square Abe up with that to land the follow up right. They trade rights in close and Jingliang continues to pick at the lead leg of Abe. Long left from Jingliang lands. Bit of a right from Jingliang then a glancing uppercut off balances Abe. More inside leg kicks from Jingliang. Abe lands a right. Overhand right from Jingliang wobbles Abe and he’s stalking him now. Jabs from Jingliang and a leg kick, he’s trying to set up a finish. Jingliang lands another leg kick and Abe is spending more time in the southpaw stance. Front kick from Jingliang hurts Abe to the body and he misses a flying knee. Jingliang lands a left then misses a high kick to close out the round.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Jingliang, borderline 10-8 really, 20-18 Jingliang overall

ROUND THREE: Jingliang comes out quickly and resumes landing leg kicks. Abe misses a left hook after they trade jabs. Jingliang lands a left then a left hook that has Abe wobbled. Leg kick and a follow up one two from Jingliang, Abe fires back but his legs are definitely compromised. Another inside leg kick from Jingliang. Left from Abe but he eats a counter. Jingliang lands a straight right then a left to follow up with. Hard leg kick then a right from Jingliang, he’s just battering Abe at this point. Another inside leg kick, both of Abe’s legs have to be seriously hurting at this point. Jingliang lands a left hook, Abe responds with a combination that Jingliang just eats. Right from Jingliang and Abe stays upright but he’s absorbed a lot of damage as the round ends.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Jingliang, 30-27 Jingliang overall

Mic time for Jingliang who was just relentless and abusive in the best way. He says he had no pressure and just wanted to take his time then thanks his family in the crowd and his opponent for the fight. He reiterates that he wanted to take his time in his fight and hopes the fans will remember his name. Asked who he wants next he says anyone who wants to fight him but he really wants to be on the upcoming Beijing card.

Jessica-Rose Clark has gone 2-0 in the UFC and is on a three fight winning streak, given how shallow women’s flyweight is she’s got a top ranking that she’s looking to better with another win here. Jessica Eye just broke a four fight losing streak to get her second UFC win and she’s looking for her fist winning streak since 2013. The odds are with Clark at -165 to a +135 payout for Eye.

Women’s Flyweight Bout: #9 Jessica-Rose Clark (9-4 1 NC, 126 lbs.) vs. #10 Jessica Eye (12-6 1 NC, 126 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: Eye is an inch taller and has an inch and a half of reach on Clark. Both women flashing the lead hand to start things off, Clark lands a right then a left to follow up the feints. They trade rights and Clark was off balanced for a bit. Clark lands a left after missing a right. Clark lands a right, Eye’s chin is stationary when they start throwing and could be a liability. Eye lands a straight right, then again. A few jabs go back and forth. Clark lands a left hook. Leg kick from Clark. Clark lands a left hook, Eye’s output has dropped considerably over the last couple of minutes. Counter right lands for Eye and we get a quick exchange to close out the round.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Eye

ROUND TWO: Clark coming forward more this round, lands an inside leg kick. Eye is working some left body kicks. Clark lands an overhand right. Left hook from Clark in close. Eye lands a jab. Clark slips on a body kick but gets up quickly, Eye grabs a front headlock and is trying to ride her back to the mat. They’re back up in the clinch and Clark gets free. Clark lands a lunging left hook. Leg kick from Clark then they trade rights and Eye lands a head kick. Eye lands a body kick. Clark lands an overhand right then a left hook to counter a body kick. Eye jabs the body and they both miss power hand punches. Clark lands that left hook again. Clark lands some body work and an elbow to close out the round.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Clark, 19-19 overall

ROUND THREE: Both women showing the jab early. Solid body kick from Clark, Eye lands a right. Good combination from Eye that goes to the body. Clark lands a combination, Eye misses the counters then lands a body kick. Right from Eye lands. Eye lands another body kick but eats a left elbow. Clark lands a body kick. Eye lands a right to the body and they clinch up. Eye can’t get a takedown and they separate with a knee from Clark. Clark makes Eye miss a few times then lands a combination. Eye digs the body then gets an inside drip from a clinch then moves towards half guard quickly. A knee to the body from Eye then a few elbows land. Eye digs some elbows to the body and moves to side control. North-south now for Eye and she moves to side control on the other side, then lands a few short elbows as time runs down.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Eye, 29-28 Eye overall

Well, that was certainly fifteen minutes of my life gone. Eye on the mic she says she’s coming home and wants to be with Stipe Miocic when he walks for the title fight. She tells everyone to keep judging her based on her bantamweight run but feels she’s the best flyweight in the world. Asked who’s next she says she’ll show up and make weight every time and will take down everyone in order if she has to.

Ovince Saint-Preux just had a three fight winning streak broken when he was stopped by Ilir Latifi, he’s still got a top ranking because light heavyweight is a terrible division right now and he’s trying to avoid another losing streak. Tyson Pedro has emerged as a bit of a prospect, not a hard thing in this division, and has gone 3-1 in the UFC. Pedro is coming off of a win and is after his second UFC winning streak, this time taking out a much higher level of opponent than he’s bested so far. Pedro is your slight -145 favorite while the +115 payout for Saint Preux is a tempting value bet.

Light Heavyweight Bout: #7 Ovince Saint Preux (22-11, 206 lbs.) vs. #13 Tyson Pedro (7-1, 205 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: Saint Preux is half an inch taller and has an inch of reach on Pedro. They touch gloves, Saint Preux is fighting southpaw. They clash on kicks and Saint Preux lands a left. Body kick from Saint Preux and Pedro responds with a high kick. They’re both working kicks, Pedro lands a high kick flush then a right that drops Saint Preux, then he grabs a standing guillotine but Saint Preux gets free. Pedro lands a couple of elbows in the clinch, Saint Preux is trying to tie up and recover and for some reason Pedro is now trying for a trip takedown. Terrible decision there from Pedro. Pedro lands a few knees to the body and gets a body lock but can’t get Saint Preux down. Saint Preux reverses a takedown attempt and gets on top landing punches from the half guard of Pedro. Saint Preux is after a kimura, he’s got the double wrist lock and cranks it then Pedro taps. Pedro is going to have nightmares about that decision to clinch on a horribly wobbled Saint Preux.

Mic time for Saint Preux, he notes his slow start but Pedro came out fast and hard then feels Pedro just gave him his favorite position on the mat and if he’s on top of you you’re in trouble. He says Pedro is good but still has a lot of growing to do then talks us through the finish. Asked who’s next he says it doesn’t matter but he’s the most active light heavyweight in the UFC and will fight anyone.

Donald Cerrone is a longtime veteran fighter, he just broke a three fight losing streak and is looking for his first winning streak since 2016. Given his years and miles he’s likely fighting to keep talk of retirement further off of the table as well. Leon Edwards has a stellar overall UFC record of 7-2 and is on a five fight winning streak, he’s looking to move into the top ten rankings if he can get that to six in a row here at the expense of Cerrone. It’s worth noting some history is on the line for Cerrone here, he’s currently tied for the most wins in UFC history, most (T)KO wins in UFC history, and most post fight bonuses in UFC history and he could move to the top of all three of those categories here. Edwards is your favorite at -240 while a Cerrone win would pay out at +190.

ROUND ONE: Edwards has an inch of height and reach on Cerrone. Edwards fighting southpaw and is pushing forward. Cerrone lands a side kick to the body, Edwards lands a body kick then a knee to the head or chest. Straight left lands for Edwards and he gets the clinch against the fence. Edwards lands an elbow, Cerrone lands a knee to the body. Knee to the face from Edwards, Cerrone is bleeding from around the right eye now. Hard elbow from Edwards as they break. Bit of a right from Cerrone, Edwards is stalking forward. Edwards blocks a double leg and they trade knees to the body in the clinch, Edwards getting the better of those for sure then lands a left as they break. Cerrone back into the clinch quickly but can’t get a takedown and Edwards knees him in the head as they break. Cerrone lands a right to the body. Edwards doing a bit of stance switching now and lands a left high kick. Cerrone lands to the body but he’s taking the worst of this round so far. Edwards lands a jab then an inside leg kick. Short left from Edwards lands and he’s circling around Cerrone as the round ends.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Edwards

ROUND TWO: That cut on the corner of Cerrone’s eye is pretty deep but isn’t too long and isn’t affecting his vision yet. Edwards comes out quickly and is looking to continue dictating the fight. Body kick from Edwards, Cerrone returns it. Another body kick from Edwards then he lands an elbow in close. Edwards is sniping with front kicks now, aimed at the body and Cerrone is able to get a clinch then force Edwards to the fence. Cerrone has a body lock but Edwards is fighting to pummel, he’s landing elbows and punches to break the grip then spins Cerrone and lands an elbow on the break. Knee to the body then a body kick from Edwards, Cerrone is a bit of a mess in the face. Another liver kick from Edwards, those are starting to take a toll. Cerrone lands a right. Edwards lands another body kick then takes a low blow in a brief flurry so we’ve got time for him to recover. Replay confirms the low blow on an attempted front kick from Cerrone then Edwards walks it off and we’re back to fighting. Edwards lands another body kick. They clinch up, Edwards lands knees to the body as Cerrone defends a takedown. Cerrone lands a head kick as they break but Edwards just eats it and complains to the ref about Cerrone grabbing his glove. That’s the last meaningful exchange of the round.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Edwards, 20-18 Edwards overall

ROUND THREE: Both men doing stance switching now, Edwards lands an elbow in close and Cerrone lands a right. Edwards stumbles Cerrone with a left and Cerrone responds with a combination. They clinch up, Edwards knees the body and they break. Left then a right from Edwards land flush. Right uppercut lands for Cerrone, Edwards lands a left but Cerrone’s volume striking might be wearing a bit on Edwards. They clinch up again and Cerrone has Edwards on the fence. Edwards lands a left elbow as they break. Left from Edwards lands. Cerrone tries a takedown, can’t get it and he eats an elbow for his trouble. Edwards blocks another takedown attempt and they break without incident. Bit of a right to the body from Cerrone. Another clinch and they break again. Edwards blocks a head kick and lands a left as Cerrone jumps into the clinch. They break without incident. Sharp counter left from Edwards lands. Slight inside leg kick from Edwards closes out the round.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Edwards but much closer, 30-27 Edwards overall

ROUND FOUR: Cerrone looking to circle a bit and find an angle of attack. Edwards lands a left to counter a leg kick. I’m surprised Edwards has abandoned the body kicks, those were doing good work for him. Cerrone lands a side kick to the body but gets off balanced by a body kick from Edwards then gets up quickly. Edwards lands a left. They clinch up again and Cerrone has a body lock. Edwards breaks free without incident. High kick lands for Edwards. Straight left from Edwards lands. Cerrone lands a leg kick. There’s a body kick from Edwards that lands. Edwards lands a left as Cerrone gets a clinch then lands a knee to the head before they hit the fence. Cerrone gets a takedown off of a failed trip from Edwards, Edwwards back up in the clinch though then lands an elbow as they break. Edwards lands a high kick but Cerrone pushes him off balance after eating it. Edwards lands a bit of a high kick as the last blow of the round.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Edwards, 40-36 Edwards overall

ROUND FIVE: There’s another cut around that eyebrow of Cerrone and it’s leaking even after the cutman’s attention. They touch gloves for the fifth round. Edwards lands aside kick to the knee. Left from Edwards lands. Cerrone is coming forward, lands a side kick to the body. One two from Edwards lands, Cerrone lands a knee to the body. They trade leg kicks and Edwards avoids a Cerrone flurry. Edwards avoids a side kick and lands a glancing left. Cerrone blocks a high kick. Edwards lands a left as Cerrone gets a clinch along the fence. If nothing else the takedown defense of Edwards has been impressive, this time Cerrone misdirects him with the body lock and finally get’s a takedown into half guard. Edwards wall walks and is back up and they break. Cerrone avoids a left and lands an uppercut. Edwards is playing safe, then we get a bit of a firefight for the final couple of seconds as time runs down.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Cerrone, 49-46 Edwards overall

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Leon Edwards via unanimous decision (48-47 x3)

Cerrone probably should have had the fourth, he and Edwards share a hug and Edwards says it was an honor to fight Cerrone who says he’s not going anywhere despite the loss. Edwards wants Jorge Masvidal on the upcoming Birmginham card, says there’s no real reason for the Masvidal call out but Masvidal likes to fight. He says he wasn’t surprised by anything Cerrone brought because he’s been watching him since he was a kid.

Cerrone gets an interview as well, bleeding from the eye and all, he says he loves his job. He says he was sick all day and didn’t feel like fighting which is a first for him but he came and fought his ass off then reiterates that he loves this. It’s almost impossible not to be a fan of Cerrone’s.

Alright everyone, that wraps up UFC Fight Night 132. A few dull points but all in all not the worst Fight Pass card, assuming you’ve adjusted your expectations for that reality accordingly. We’ll be breaking down the results from this card Sunday on the 411 Ground and Pound Radio Show. I won’t have anything for next week but the first week in July is International Fight Week, so we’ll have the TUF Finale on Friday then the mega card UFC 226 on Saturday with two title fights and the main event being a big chance for light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier to take the heavyweight title from champion Stipe Miocic and become the second ever simultaneous two division champion. Plus the co-main for that card is a great great featherweight title fight between champion Max Hollow and undefeated Brian Ortega. So I’ll hope to see you all back here in two weeks for that event.
