Jon Jones Loses License, Fined $205,000 Over UFC 214 Drug Test Failure

Jon Jones has been fined $205,000 and had his fight license revoked by the California State Athletic Commission over his failed drug test following UFC 214. MMAjunkie reports that the CSAC voted 6 – 0 to revoke Jones’ fight license and levy the fine against Jones in a hearing on Tuesday.

According to the site, CSAC Executive Director Andy Forster said, “I don’t believe we should end Mr. Jones’ career, but I do believe he should sit out for a while.” Jones failed a test for oral turinabol metabolites after his win over Daniel Cormier, which was eventually overturned due to the test results. Jones may re-apply for a license following the conclusion of his case with USADA. That case is still pending.

Jones and his lawyer have argued that the positive drug test was due to unintentional use. He told the commission, “I don’t understand how any of this happened. None of this stuff makes sense to me. I have no clue how this happened. I’m trying to figure it out like everyone else. You can call me a little bit of a party-boy or a knucklehead, but a cheater is something I’ll never say that I am, because that’s not who I am.”
