In the main event of last night’s UFC 259 event, Israel Adesanya was unsuccessful in his attempt to capture a second UFC title. He lost to reigning light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz in a five-round unanimous decision defeat. Following the fight, former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones took multiple shots at Adesanya via Twitter.

Adesanya and Jones have taken shots at each other publicly and on social media before. However, a fight between the two was never lined up as Jones vacated his light heavyweight title in a bid to move up to heavyweight and compete for UFC heavyweight title.

Jones initially tweeted during last night’s UFC 259 main event, “Can’t wait to make this ***** eat his words.” He later commented, “Yeah never mind, that’s not even worth my time.”

Jones also praised Blachowicz’s performance, tweeting, “Great job Jan there’s two minutes left in the fight but Izzy is on bottom, great win. Definitely not expecting any surprises.” He added on Adesanya, “If you ever wrote me talking **** about Izzy beating me, slap yourself.”

Adesanya’s loss to Blachowicz was the first of his UFC and MMA career. He remains the UFC middleweight champion and will likely be moving back down to defend his 185-pound title for his next bout.

Currently, Jon Jones is expected to face the winner of Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou II. The fight is slated to headline UFC 260 on March 27 later this month. It will be broadcast live on Twitter.
