Karl Roberson spoke with reporters, including MMAjunkie, after his win over Jack Marshman at UFC 230. Highlights are below:

On getting advice from Corey Anderson: “I wanted to go in there, bang a little, but, you know, get (my opponent) to think, ‘Oh, he’s going to strike a little bit,’ and then me and my boy Corey had a talk. He was like, ‘Oh, you can wrestle now, so you might as well show ’em that, too.’ (Marshman) started getting a little too heavy on the punches coming forward, and I had to change levels on him, show him a different look.”

On going to the ground: “Don’t gas yourself out trying to punch someone who’s used to getting punched. You pick them apart, weather them down and chop the tree down, as they say. You chop the tree down, and if it cracks, it cracks. If not, you’re still going to get that ‘W’ anyway. I’m dangerous all-around, so you’ve got to look out for me now.”

On Anderson’s old nickname ‘Beastin’ 25/8’: “I respect that name, but that’s an ugly ass nickname. I will not be taking that on.”

On his next fight: “Moving forward, I want a top-15. I’ll even take somebody on this card. Only people I’m not calling out is ‘Jacare,’ because he took care of me when I was in Brazil, and my boy Branch because I train with him. Everybody else, I’m a wolf. They’re food. I’m hungry. I love to fight. I’m looking to get back in as soon as possible. I’m looking to put my hands on somebody, get another ‘W’ and move up the ranks.”
