Khabib Nurmagomedov Would Rather Face Georges St-Pierre Over Conor McGregor

Khabib Nurmagomedov is less interested in fighting Conor McGregor than he is Georges St-Pierre. Nurmagomedov spoke with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour this week (per MMA Fighting) ahead of his fight with Max Holloway at UFC 223. It’s important to note that this interview took place before McGregor’s attack of a bus full of UFC fighters (including Nurmagomedov) on Friday after a UFC 223 media day event. That said, highlights are below:

On what a win over GSP would mean to him: “I think about Georges St-Pierre. He talk about he can make 155. He already middleweight and welterweight champion. Why not? For his legacy and my legacy, it’s very important.”

On his plan to ask for a fight with St-Pierre if he beats Holloway: “I’m gonna bring [up] Georges. But 100 percent, UFC is gonna push me against Conor.”

On GSP: “I know him. I respect him. When I grew up, I watched his fights. But about legacy, it’s very important for me. if I beat Conor or if I beat Georges St-Pierre, which one is better for my legacy?”
