UFC fighter Matt Brown was allegedly attacked by his former Brazilian jiu-jitsu coach following UFC 198. MMAjunkie reports that Brown, who lost to Demian Maia at the Saturday show, was attacked by Brown’s old coach Rodrigo Botti who was there to corner Cyborg Justino for her fight.

Brian Stann witness the fight, which was at the hotel after the event, and initally thought it was a “random fan” who went after Brown before later learning that it was Brown’s coach:

Brown’s wife Colleen provided some more information from their perspective on the issue:

The UFC issued a statement to the site saying that they are investigating, which read, ““UFC is aware that welterweight contender Matt Brown was allegedly attacked today by a former acquaintance at the UFC 198 host hotel in Curitiba, Brazil. UFC has been in communication with local authorities to gather more information relative to the alleged attack, and is reviewing security measures at the hotel. Fortunately, Brown was uninjured in the situation and will return home to the United States later today as planned.”
