Comment: Dillashaw became a two-time UFC champion when he knocked out Cody Garbrandt in the second round of their UFC 217 co-main event. He is now looking at a chance to win two titles as he challenged flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson. He insists the weight cut down to 125 pounds is not a problem (he was down to 140 pounds most recently) and would be confident in his abilities to defend both championships if he was able to beat Mighty Mouse.

Comment: Cody suffered the first loss of his pro career, being knocked out in a grudge match against former teammate T.J. Dillashaw. He knocked T.J. down in the first round but the round ended before he could capitalize. He was caught with a head kick that led to the finish. Now, the former champion says he will come back an even better fighter and has put the rest of the bantamweight division on notice.

Comment: Cruz and Jimmie Rivera were scheduled to fight at UFC 219 next month but unfortunately, Cruz broke his arm in training and has withdrawn. Beyond losing out on a pay day, this is unfortunate because it pushes back Cruz’s quest to earn a title fight. With T.J. Dillashaw now atop the division, the champion says Cruz can wait as long as he did (two years before T.J. had another shot) following Cruz’s early 2016 win over him.

Comment: What a difference a week makes. Prior to UFC 217, it appeared Rivera would be fighting Dominick Cruz in a month and a win would allow him to challenge for the bantamweight championship. Fast forward and now Cruz is injured with a broken arm, he has no obvious opponent and the champion appears focused on fighting the flyweight champion. Rivera is not interested in fighting Aljamain Sterling or John Lineker, believing he should be fighting someone ranked above him.
