Nevada State Senator Backs Nick Diaz Over NSAC Suspension
September 21, 2015 | Posted by
A Nevada state senator has spoken out against the five-year suspension levied by the NSAC against Nick Diaz for his third positive drug test for marijana. TMZ spoke with Senator Teck Segerblom, who said he opposes Diaz’s suspension.
“I think what they did was totally inappropriate,” said Segerblom. “[Marijuana] is a recognized medicine in the Nevada constitution so how can you punish someone for taking medicine, particularly since it doesn’t enhance your ability to fight?”
Segerblom added, “They need to rethink this punishment and then ultimately change their rules.”
Diaz’s suspension has been controversial among MMA fighter, with Ronda Rousey and Henry Cejudo both among those who have come out in the fighter’s support.
