Rachael Ostovich’s Husband Pleads Not Guilty To Assault

November 27, 2018 | Posted by Joseph Lee

MMA Fighting reports that Arnold Berdon, the husband of UFC fighter Rachael Ostovich, has pleaded not guilty to a charge of second-degree assault. Berdon was arrested last week for attempted murder, attacking Ostovich to the point that she had a broken orbital bone and other injuries. Ostovich claimed in her legal documents that she was coughing up blood after the incident, which happened in the early morning of November 18. There will be a preliminary hearing for Berdon on December 18.

The attempted murder charge was dropped down to assault on Friday. Ostovich asked for and was granted a temporary restraining order against Berdon, which also applies to their five-year-old daughter. She claims that Berdon hit her repeatedly in the head, face and ribs. She also claimed that he had abused her before, punching her lard enough on the legs to leave bruises. Berdon cannot be within 100 feet of Ostovich or their daughter until May 18, 2019, when the order expires. He claims he was defending himself and plans to argue that in court.

As a result of the injuries, Ostovich was pulled from her fight with Paige VanZant at UFC on ESPN+ 1 on January 19 in Brooklyn.
