Ronda Rousey Praises Weili Zhang After Title Win

It looks like new UFC women’s strawweight champion Weili Zhang has found herself a fan in former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey. Rousey posted the following message on Instagram after Zhang’s title win.

Ronda Rousey initially wrote in her first message, “The future is bright – amazing performance. Congrats champ!” She later wrote a longer message about women’s MMA and how Zhang is a “prime example of overcoming adversity.” You can read that message below.

Women from all walks of life, from all over the world are rising to the challenge and showing the world what it means to fight like a girl. Zhang knocked out former champion Jessica Andrade in the main event at yesterday’s UFC on ESPN+ 15 card. Zhang finished Andrade just 42 seconds into the first round.
