Rory MacDonald won’t be moving up in weight to compete in Bellator’s heavyweight tournament. Bellator head Scott Coker told MMAjunkie that MacDonald will not be part of the tournament and will stick with welterweight.

Coker told the site, “I think Rory has a big fight coming up that he’s focused on at 170 pounds. So let’s see how that works out. As far as him fighting at heavyweight, the thing I love about him is he’s a real martial artist, and the weight class issue doesn’t bother him. But I think that we’ll probably stick to heavyweights.”

MacDonald is set to face Douglas Lima for the welterweight title at Bellator 192. The show takes place on January 20th from Inglewood, California and airs live on Paramount Network.
