Showtime’s executive vice president said on Friday that Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor is looking likely to break the record for PPV buys. Stephen Espinoza said that current estimates for the card are in the “mid to high” four million range in the US and Canada, putting it on a likely path to beat Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao’s 4.6 million buys in 2015.

“We would love to break that record, but even if we come up just short, the event was still a massive success financially and by other measurements,” Espinoza added.

The final number of buys will be determined late next week once all distributors report in. The initial figure for Pacquiao vs. Mayweather was 4.4 million, later revised to the final tally of 4.6 million.

Mayweather defeated McGregor in the tenth round via TKO. The show took place last Saturday.
