Fansided reports that Tito Ortiz has signed a contract with Combate Americas, which he did last night during their Reinas show at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, CA. Here are highlights of an interview with CA president Campbell McLaren about the signing:

On getting Ortiz: “I think since 1996 when Dana [White] managed him. Actually, when I launched Combate about five years ago, Tito was one of the people I went to ask advice. I did two things. I went to see Lorenzo Fertitta and Dana and tell them what I wanted to do. And then I went and I talked to Tito and he was very supportive. He said you should do Hispanic MMA. He goes, ‘it makes perfect sense. [It’s] such a great tradition of fighting.”

On Ortiz’s next fight: “I think we’re gonna have a fight for him in October,. Not Spain. Not Peru. We’re gonna do Peru next month, that’s our first South American date. Tito’s not right for Peru.”

On the possibility of Ortiz fighting Alberto Del Rio: “Usually you want a bad guy. Neither of them are really bad guys. You saw them earlier. Did they look like they were going to fight? They were very friendly. Didn’t look like a fight to me.”
