Speaking to ESPN, UFC President Dana White revealed that UFC is working on the planned Robert Whittaker vs. Kelvin Gastelum middleweight title bout to happen at UFC 234. The event would likely be held in Australia.

The fight card is currently in the works for February 10, 2019 in champion Whittaker’s native home of Melbourne, Australia. White stated on the bout, “We’ll announce that when it’s time. It’ll be in Australia.”

Kelvin Gastelum is looking at his first shot to become UFC champion after beating Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza at UFC 224 last May. Robert Whittaker is yet to defend the title since he was promoted to middleweight champion after winning the interim title in a bout against Yoel Romero at UFC 213 in July 2017.

Whittaker would later go on to defeat Romero again by split decision in a rematch at UFC 225 last June. However, the fight became a non-title bout after Romero failed to make weight for the fight.
