28 Months Later Is Still Being Discussed

January 14, 2015 | Posted by Joseph Lee

In an interview with IGN, Alex Garland said that there are “serious talks” about finally releasing the third film in the movie series that includes 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later. The first film was directed by Danny Boyle and starred Cillian Murphy. It followed a deadly rage virus that wiped out a large portion of humanity. Both films were critically acclaimed.

Garland said: “We’ve just started talking about it seriously. We’ve got an idea. Danny [Boyle] and [producer] Andrew [Macdonald] and I have been having quite serious conversations about it so it is a possibility. It’s complicated. There’s a whole bunch of reasons why it’s complicated, which are boring so I won’t go into, but there’s a possibility. It’s more likely to be 28 Months than 28 Years. 28 Years gives you one more place to go. 28 Decades is probably taking the piss.

He also said that he’s more likely to executive produce than write the script. His new film, Ex Machina, will be released in the UK on January 21.
