Whatever you thought of the original Venom, at least its sequel is going to look spectacular. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that three-time Academy Award-winning cinematographer Robert Richardson has been hired to shoot Venom 2 for Sony Pictures and director Andy Serkis.

Richardson is no lightweight when it comes to his field. He’s worked with Quentin Tarantino (Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, both Kill Bill films, Inglorious Basterds, Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight), Martin Scorsese (Casino, Bringing Out the Dead, Shine a Light, The Aviator, Shutter Island, Hugo) and Oliver Stone (Platoon, Wall Street, JFK and Natural Born Killers). He won the Oscar for Hugo, JFK and The Aviator.

Venom 2 was written by Kelly Marel. Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams and Woody Harrelson are all expected to return.
