Deadline reports that Al Pacino is in talks to star in Amazon Studios’ upcoming drama The Hunt, which would be his first TV series ever. The first season will include ten episodes, with Jordan Peele executive producing through MonkeyPaw Productions, along with Sonar Entertainment. David Weil created the series and will also executive produce and write. Weil will also be the showrunner with executive producer Nikki Toscano. Alfonso Gomez-Rejon is in talks to direct.

The series follows “a diverse band of Nazi Hunters living in 1977 New York City. The Hunters, as they’re known, have discovered that hundreds of high ranking Nazi officials are living among us and conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the U.S. The eclectic team of Hunters will set out on a bloody quest to bring the Nazis to justice and thwart their new genocidal plans.” Pacino will play a Nazi hunter that mentors Jonah Heidelbaum (Logan Lerman). Jonah finds himself involved with The Hunt, an organization of Nazi hunters, after his grandmother is killed by a mysterious intruder in their apartment.

The series is based on an original idea, inspired by real-life events. Sonar Entertainment was in talks with another network when Amazon came in and got the rights. It was given a straight-to-series order in May.
