The Rock’s Black Adam film has found a new superhero in Hawkman, to be played by Aldis Hodge. DC has confirmed that Hodge (The Invisible Man) is in final talks to play the winged superhero in the upcoming DC Comics film. Hodge joins Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Noah Centineo in the film; Johnson is playing the titular antihero while Centineo is playing Atom Smasher.

Black Adam was revealed during DC FanDome to have appearances from Hawkman, Doctor Fate, and Cyclone and would set up the Justice Society of America — the predecessor to the Justice League. Details on Hodge’s Hawkman are not yet known, though the character has had many identities over the years. His most iconic is Carter Hall, the archeologist who gains the powers of Hawkman through the use of the mysterios Nth Metal that allows him to fly. The announcement notes that Black Adam is “set within the DC movie universe,” assumedly a reference to the greater connected universe commonly known among fans as the DCEU that includes Justice League characters, Shazam!, and the Suicide Squad.

Black Adam is being directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and will release on December 22nd, 2021.
